This month the skies of L.A. were getting ready for Spring with a new batch of stylish fashion, fragrance and beauty billboards to catch your eye. Here's a selection of February's most fashionable apparel and lifestyle ads vying for your attention.
Fashion billboards
Hooray for Hollywood. That was my immediate thought upon seeing this Tommy Hilfiger homage to the iconic Hollywood Sign. Earlier this year the American fashion brand teased us with a Hilfigers Hollywood Sign billboard creative and then followed up with this awesome special extension version for the opening of their new flagship store on Robertson Boulevard.David Beckham returned to skies of Sunset Plaza to promote his latest H&M Bodywear briefs above their L.A. flagship store. If you're a fan of the soccer star, be sure to check out more David Beckham underwear billboards at my Daily Billboard blog.
Talking of celebrity endorsements, Alexander Skarsgård stars in Calvin Klein's new Provocations nine minute fashion film and this accompanying billboard beside L.A.'s swanky Chateau Marmont Hotel.
In addition Eva Longoria's ex, pro basketball star Tony Parker, can be seen this month in this stylish duo of billboards for Tissot watches.
The sixth season of Mad Men is almost upon us and Banana Republic once again has a swinging capsule collection of clothes inspired by the 60's based TV show to advertise.
One of the most striking creatives this month came courtesy of Gucci, with these stunning dresses in hot pink providing amazing standout.
Meanwhile whilst his dad got his kit off, his son Romeo Beckham appeared in another Burberry ad at the other end of Sunset Plaza.
Another favourite this month was Gap's vibrant homage to the iconic 'March of Progress' human evolution visual for their new Skimmer Denim Evolved billboard.
Whilst Armani Exchange brought the sexy as everyone gets ready to hit the beach and enjoy the great outdoors.
Guess went giant-sized to grab everyone's attention at the start of the Sunset Strip.
Further east along The Strip, Target had this extra large billboard for its fashion line from Prabal Gurung and the creative has a nice movie poster feel to it, as does the accompanying TV commercial. My one criticism is that this visual looks very festive with the twinkling lights in the background, so feels like it's a few months too late.
Joe's Jeans went all rock chick above the City of Angels with this cool motorcycle creative.
And Hale Bob went all lush and tropical for the fashion brand's new season prints.
Gypsy05 just laid back and took it easy, getting ready to enjoy the sunshine.
Meanwhile UGG Australia went big on the side of the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood for its classic range of footwear.
Plus Aldo Shoes continued to surprise and delight with this fun and vibrant flowerpot creative. I can't wait to see what comes next.
And I wonder how many women were treated to Valentine's Day lingerie, or some other surprise, from Hustler this year.
Fragrance and Beauty billboards
Just in time for Oscar season, the lovely Natalie Portman looked romantic and elegant in this latest Miss Dior perfume billboard.Whilst it was time for other ladies to get themselves beach and pool ready when this super-sized cheeky creative appeared for the European Wax Center.
And MAC Cosmetics added a splash of colour to the skies of L.A. in February.
Drinks billboards
Funny lady Sofia Vergara loved every sip of her Pepsi this month, and it's no wonder as she's probably being paid a small fortune to endorse the soda brand.Naked offered a slightly healthier alternative with this fun special extension billboard for its range of wholesome juice drinks.
But if you're in the mood for a nice cold brew, then Budweiser has another variant for you to try, the new Black Crown.
Car billboards
I usually don't like outdoor advertising for cars as they rely far too heavily on product shots, but the Mazda 6 really tried to win me over this month with this fun clapperboard special extension billboard.Even Chevrolet upped the stakes with this well designed creative, which shows of the inspiration for their Stingray's sleek design, making the ad much more interesting.
And am I the only one who hears Nelly's new 'Hey Porsche' song when you look at this cool billboard for the new Porsche 911 Carrera.
Finance billboards
And here's a way to pay for your new car, the new Discover It credit card. The creative's a bit dull, but it's to the point.Technology billboards
This month tech giant Apple have rolled out these fun side-by-side ad creatives for the iPad and iPad mini. Be sure to check out some of the other billboards from around L.A.Performing Arts and Culture billboards
If you wanted to see a show in L.A. then these billboards for Cavalia's Odysseo, which seems to be a mixture of Cirque du Soleil with horses, have been everywhere.Or if you were more interested in taking in an exhibition, this striking billboard for Samuel Bayer's new exhibit at Ace Gallery may have caught your eye.
Theme park billboards
Optimus Prime took to the skies to promote Universal Studios Hollywood's latest annual offer and the new Transformers simulator ride of course.Sports billboards
Meanwhile the most important event in my calendar in the coming weeks is my third L.A. Marathon. I for one can't wait to hear the cheering of the spectators and cross that palm tree lined Finish Line in Santa Monica. And there you have another eclectic billboard round-up. Come back next month as I'll be sure to keep my eyes to the skies to hunt out more of the best billboards around Los Angeles...
